Injunctions ∙ Orders ∙ Violations
One of the most common occurrences in these situations is filing an injunction, otherwise known as an order of protection or restraining order. I have extensive experience both defending and pursuing these orders.
- When defending: Domestic violence injunctions can deprive the accused of the right to ever bear arms again and lose security clearances. Also, the injunctions continue to pop up on a background check, just like a criminal prosecution, and potentially cause the person to lose job opportunities as a result.
- When pursuing: If you are pursuing a domestic violence injunction against your partner, you can get necessary temporary relief. This relief may include temporary exclusive use of the home and vehicle, temporary child support and temporary alimony. It boils down to pretty much anything you can get in a divorce, but on a temporary basis.
